Summer 2006 will forever be known as the Summer We Traveled. 2007 is going down as the Summer It Rained. Every.Single.Day. I will leave it at that, or I will start whining. Here we are, in bullet form:
- Long weekend in Leakey - you already knew about this one.
- More swim meets for Payne. He qualified to participate in the City Meet in 4 different events, but cannot participate due to his Tennessee trip to the grandparents.
- All-Stars for Payne - it was a disappointing run - 2 games and out. But fun to play with 3 of his good friends who were all on separate teams during the season.
- But that left time for a quick weekend in San Antonio to check out Sea World. One of the things you can do when, yet again, it rains and Jon cannot harvest.
- Payne went to baseball camp at A&M with his buddy Collin.
- Jackson is officially the Assistant Grain Harvest Project Manager. Duties include riding in the grain buggy, telling the guys where to dump the grain, how to dump the grain, and when to dump the grain. He would rather be at the field than anywhere else.
- Taking care of Subway, Payne's pig for the State Fair.
- Payne decided to drop the heifers. We all really liked them and taking care of them, but Payne ultimately decided he ought to focus on pigs and chickens.
- Movies, Movies, Movies. What else do you do when it rains? We have seen: Live Free or Die Hard, Transformers, License to Wed, Ratatouille, Evan Almighty, Surf's Up, Knocked Up, and, most importantly, Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix.
- Anxiously awaiting, as are many, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I still have to finish the sixth book - I didn't want to read it when it came out and then have to agonize for months about how it all ends. I am engrossed in it now.
- iPhone. Need I say more? It is amazing, and much of the hype is true.
- Lots of Wii tennis and bowling tournaments among the familia.
- Have I mentioned it's rained a bit?
