From the song "Hero:"
And the reason that she loved him
Was the reason I loved him too
And he never wondered what was right or wrong
He just knew, he just knew
My husband left this morning for Long Beach, MS. He and three others, including my brother-in-law, Trey, headed out with trailer houses and trailers in tow, filled with supplies and equipment and whatever they thought they might need. And dog food.
Just 4 ordinary guys, with the ability to take some time off to help others; farmers in this area are generally not busy this time of year.
I think of the firefighters, police, flight attendants and all the other brave ones who perished 4 years ago. My husband traveling to Mississippi does not compare to their heroism by any measure. He would be appalled to even be mentioned in the same post as those American heroes.
But he is stepping up to the plate and doing what he can. And for that I am very proud of him. "And he never wondered what was right or wrong He just knew, he just knew" That's what Jon does. He does what is right and what is good and what is kind. He is definitely a hero to me, and to two little guys who live with us.
And he is certainly a hero to those who love him in Tennessee. We shared his travels with our SS class yesterday and will keep them updated as we talk to him as the week goes on.
