Missed out on what's going on here? I am participating in a year-long photography project. Each week a theme is assigned, and each photographer posts her interpretation thereof. We started out with Self-Portraits. Other themes have been Books and Vintage.
This week's theme is Mother Earth. Jon and I are, by the inherent nature of farming, very tied to the earth. We take care of her, and she takes care of us. This year may be one of the years that is a little harder to do so: we are in a drought, and desperately need rain. It is a crazy life to depend upon the one thing that completely makes or breaks you, yet you have not one shred of control over it.
The field surrounding our house is planted in grain sorghum this year. This is what I see when I walk outside:
While the rest of the country is just warming up, our crops are in full-force. The grain is currently heading out.
Denver family photographer Lisa Turner is a super-creative photographer. You don't want to miss her work this week!
*As we continue to pray for rain, so much of the country is battered and beaten. My hometown in Tennessee suffered loss of life and untold damage Wednesday night. Prayers for those who are cleaning up and carrying on.

WOW! I love all these pictures. I am not one who usually appreciates photos of flowers and fields and such, but these really draw me in, so that is quite a task!! I keep scrolling back up to see them!

GORGEOUS! Luscious with the light and the one with the soil... perfect. It's my favorite, too. :)
