We are still around. Still shuttling kids, attending 232 football games a week, dodging rain showers (a very, very, very good thing to have to do!), fixing snacks, feeding pigs, and folding laundry.
The usual busy-ness.
I have not settled into the rhythm and pace of this school year yet. I pulled back from my millions of my more intensive volunteer positions, yet still can't find the groove of working through each week. No more Junior League, no more PTO president. Should be home-free.
I'll get there. It's just taking a bit longer than I thought.
It is fall, it is September, and it is raining. And that makes me happy. For today, that is enough.
He may or may not have slept for 2 nights. He may or may not have thrown up the morning of his first game. He may or may not have had a fun time playing.
Either way, Payne's first football game is under his belt. A long road trip to play the first game in the rain. Turned out to be a come-from-behind victory in the closing minutes of the 4th quarter. He played corner on defense, and wide-out on offense. I think.
I guess it would be inappropriate to use the word "adorable" when discussing football, but the 7th graders were adorable, at least to their mamas. A team of bobble-heads....
I only took pictures the first quarter - the rains came and I watched the rest of the game under the shelter of a closed concession stand.
