I never shared what all went on while the Internet left me adrift and abandoned. My room! Jon painted our bedroom and bathroom, and then installed new flooring. Love that handyman-do-everything-get-it-done husband. But it wasn' t that simple.
Not at all.
I have a history of not choosing the right color paint the first time. Did it before 8 years ago when we built this house. Wrong color khaki for the den - looked orange. Can't have orange in my house.....drama!
I was not going to make that same mistake this time with our room. SO...I knew I wanted pale, light blue in the bedroom. Found thousands of paint chips and put them on the wall. For months. Narrowed my choices down, and got some paint samples. Painted the walls with said paint samples. Lived with swaths of blue on my bedroom and bathroom walls for a while. For at least 2 months.
Jon says he has time - go buy paint. I bought paint. A lovely pale blue that had been on my wall for weeks and weeks. Jon starts in the bathroom. Finished the "blue" part of the bathroom (The toilet is in a separate little closet - that is yummy, rich dark chocolate brown) and guess what....it's beautiful - like sea glass. Problem? It was not blue. It was green. Aqua green. And Jon was angry.....
But I wanted blue. No matter how lovely the green was (and, I must say it was really lovely) it was not blue. SO I run into town, get more samples, find a completely different blue than any I had looked at. Found 2 blues acutually. No looking and deliberating and debating for months. A lovely bird egg blue in the bathroom (which completely rocks with that chocolate brown!) and a paler blue in the bedroom.
The floor was much easier. A dark walnut laminate. And I will be adding a large chocolate brown area rug. I am having trouble finding a brown that is dark enough.
All I am waiting for is a new duvet, which started the whole blue thing anyway. It is a khaki background with paisleys with blues, greens, and browns. Should be here this week. Will post some pictures then!
